— HOW IT WORKS

One segment. One direction.

We assess motion at every joint of the spine and pelvis. Where it's stuck, it gets adjusted. Where it's loose, we stabilize. Not the whole spine for the sake of it.

A chiropractic adjustment is a controlled, specific force applied to a joint that isn't moving properly. Your spine has 24 movable vertebrae, and when one gets stuck, it creates a chain reaction — pain, stiffness, nerve irritation, muscle tension, inflammation. The adjustment restores that motion.

The audible 'pop' is a gas release inside the joint capsule. Not bone cracking. Not a measure of how good the adjustment was. We care about how the joint moves after, not how loud the visit was.

What actually happens during an adjustment

A chiropractic adjustment is a controlled, specific force applied to a joint that isn't moving properly. That's it — no mystery. When one or more of your 24 movable vertebrae get stuck, restricted, or misaligned, it creates a chain reaction: pain, stiffness, nerve irritation, muscle tension, and inflammation.

The adjustment restores that motion. When the joint moves correctly again, the surrounding muscles relax, inflammation drops, nerve signals clear up, and your body can do what it was designed to do — heal itself. We don't do cookie-cutter adjustments; we choose the right technique for your body, your condition, and your comfort level.

The techniques we use — and why we match them to you

Diversified Technique is the most common and versatile method: quick, precise thrusts to restore motion to specific joints. It's what most people picture when they think of an adjustment, and it's the backbone of what we do. The Thompson Drop Technique uses a specially designed table with sections that drop slightly during the adjustment, so less force is needed — great for patients who prefer a gentler approach.

The Activator Method uses a small, spring-loaded instrument to deliver a quick, low-force impulse with no twisting and no cracking — ideal for nervous patients, elderly patients, or areas that need very precise targeting. Flexion-Distraction is a slow, rhythmic stretching technique performed on a specialized table that gently separates the vertebrae; it's the go-to for disc herniations, sciatica, and spinal stenosis, and most patients find it relieving from the first session.

Why chiropractic adjustments work

Adjustments reduce pain by restoring proper joint mechanics and reducing nerve irritation — the relief is often immediate, and patients walk out feeling different than when they walked in. When joints aren't moving properly, your whole body compensates; restoring that motion lets you bend, twist, and move the way your body was designed to. Misaligned joints create friction and irritation that triggers inflammation, and correcting alignment breaks that cycle so healing accelerates.

Your spine also protects your spinal cord. When vertebrae shift out of alignment, they can interfere with nerve signals; adjustments remove that interference so your nervous system communicates clearly. And like seeing the dentist before a cavity, regular adjustments catch small misalignments before they become big problems — all without medications, injections, or side effects.

— COMMON QUESTIONS

Questions, answered.

What's that cracking sound during an adjustment?
It's gas. Seriously. Your joints contain fluid, and that fluid contains dissolved gases. When the joint is adjusted, the quick stretch creates a pressure change that releases those gases as a bubble — that's the pop you hear. It's called cavitation. It doesn't hurt, and it doesn't mean anything is breaking. Some techniques don't produce any sound at all.
Is chiropractic adjustment safe?
Yes. Chiropractic is one of the safest drug-free, non-invasive therapies available for musculoskeletal complaints. Serious complications are extremely rare. Our team is trained in multiple techniques so we can choose the safest, most effective approach for your specific condition, age, and comfort level.
How many visits will I need?
It depends entirely on what's going on. Acute issues — like a recent injury or flare-up — often respond within a few visits. Chronic conditions that have been building for years take longer to correct. We'll give you a clear treatment plan after your initial exam so you know what to expect and how we'll measure progress.
Do adjustments hurt?
Most patients feel relief during and after an adjustment. Some experience mild soreness for a day or two after the first couple of visits — similar to what you'd feel after a new workout. That's your body adapting. It typically resolves quickly and each subsequent visit feels better.
What techniques do you use?
We use multiple techniques and match the right one to your body and condition — including Diversified (the traditional hands-on adjustment), Thompson Drop, the low-force Activator instrument method, and Flexion-Distraction for disc-related problems. Some patients want the traditional adjustment; others prefer instrument-assisted or low-force methods. Both work.
Do I need a referral to get adjusted in Florida?
No. In Florida you can see a chiropractor directly without a physician referral — just call and book. Serving Jacksonville, Orange Park, and the surrounding First Coast communities, our team adjusts hundreds of spines every week.
